We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
Yesterday was the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Abdulrahman Ghassemlou, theIranian Kurdish leader.
I had already called him and told him that I wished to meet him for an interview and he told me that he was going away for a few days and on his return Kak Abdullah will arrange our meeting, which never took place and he left us for ever.
Ghassemlou was a unique man. When I first met him in 1980 in the Kurdistan of Iran I immediately saw in him a great leader and an Iranian patriot. His special and close relationship with another Iranian nationalist, Dariush Forouhar, was the symbol of how Iranian Kurds and the rest of the peoples of Iran can live together in peace under a democratic system of governance as the Kurds of Iran have never advocated separation from our historic land of Persia.
Sadly his assassination and the murder of his successor Dr Sadegh Sharafkandi somehow destroyed this dream, which has been the plot of the regime that does not want peace and prosperity for our peoples.
Today is also the anniversary of the passing of another dear Iranian; the mathematics prodigy Maryam Mirzakhani.
She left Iran because the regime had put her under pressure but the world had appreciated her unique talent and awarded her with some of the highest science accolades. However, with great sadness her body finally succumbed to her illness and we lost another great patriot too.
On the happier note, today is the anniversary of the birthday of Ardalan Sarfaraz, the great Iranian songwriter and poet.
Rouhani has been talking again about the terrible living conditions for our people that the regime he is part of has created for them.
He has confessed that the sanctions have broken the back of our people but then he throws dust into the eyes of the Iranians by solely blaming the US and thenasking the Iranians to work even harder without expecting any extra wage from the state!
Now Zarif has arrived in New York to once again sell the regime’s propaganda to the world. He too is among many of the corrupt rulers of Iran whose preoccupation is not the interest of the nation and just want to implement Khamenei’s policies.
In the second part of the program we will look at the trial of the former mayor of Tehran Mohammad Ali Najafi.
