Behind the Headlines

We begin this edition of Behind the Headlines with a report on how our nation is welcoming the arrival of another Nowruz and the Persian New Year with celebrations, street dancing and displaying its national unity in search of happiness and freedom. And how could the ruling regime deny a nation from celebrating its historic traditions of reciting the immortal poetry of Hafez, Sadee and Mulavi and sing and dance to the music of life?

It is true that under this despotic regime these human activities are answered with prison and torture, but the desire for being happy and free is in the Iranian nation’s blood and will not be removed by a temporary regime’s inhumane acts and repression. As such we invite our viewers to watch a few video clips of how their compatriots are celebrating in the country and join them in welcoming Nowruz and its message of hope and humanity.

Later, in tonight’s economic debate we will look at the incompetence of the regime of ignorance and repression in solving even the most basic economic problems of our people. The very evidence of this can be seen in the daily nationwide strikes of workers, clashes between farmers and security forces and rallies by pensioners and sacked unpaid employees of numerous companies and factories up and down Iran.

We will follow the program with looking at the comments by the Economy Minister Ali Tayebnia about the way Iran’s state-run companies operate. We will also watch a video clip about the protest rally of the Malbakhtegan (people who have lost their savings in bogus banks and loan companies), as well as looking at the poetry reading event at Khamenei’s residence.

Stay with us for this edition of Behind the Headlines and share it with your friends and relatives.

We look forward to hearing your views and comments about the issues covered in tonight’s program.
