Behind the Headlines

In tonight’s edition of Behind the Headlines our guests Hassan Etemadi form the Secular-Democratic Party of Iranians in Stockholm and Nasser Baldaie of the People’s Party of Sistan and Baluchestan in UN Headquarters, will be updating us on the latest news and developments of Iran and the world.

First we will watch a few video clips sent to us from the street celebrations of the Iranian people to observe the Festival of Fire, or Chaharshanbesoori.

We will continue the program with discussing the many secrets of the survival of Iran’s traditional festivals and culture through her long and eventful history, and in this respect focus on how the despotic Islamic republic has tried, and failed, to annihilate these rooted traditions.

We will then report on the arrest of Hamid Baghaie, Ahmadinejad’s former deputy, who has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of 43 billion tomans, as well as several lashes.

According to the Tehran prosecutor’s office, Baghaie has received 350 million Euros from the Quds Brigade of the Revolutionary Guard to distribute it among the heads of African states, but has embezzled the entire money for himself.

Hamid Baghaie has denied the charges as fabrication and has called on Ghassem Suleimani, the commander of Quds to come to the fore and tell the public that the charges against him are true. Suleimani has not done so.

And at the end of tonight’s program we will ask our viewers to share with us their opinion about the roots of the many environmental problems that Iran is facing and how they could be solved.

With the hope of a better tomorrow for all.
