A Window to the Fatherland

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

I read this poem in a tribute to the late Dariush Forouhar and his lovely wife Parvaneh, as well as Soroush Katiba, all of who were murdered by the regime.

Sadly the opposition group that the Forouhars belonged to dissociated itself from the late Shahpoor Bakhtiar when he needed them most.

Tonight we speak with Koroush Zaim of the same organization to find out more about those circumstances.

Koroush Zaim:

I had joined the supporters of the late Dr. Mossadeq’s nationalist movement in the 1950s when we had a democratic political climate in Iran. I once met him and he gave me a fountain pen as a gift, which I still treasure in my memory.

I left Iran after the fall of Mossadegh and returned after the revolution. In exile we reorganized the National Front with Mr Bani Assadi and Dr. Momtaz who still lives in the US.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

The National Front was active outside Iran during the Shah’s regime and even after the revolution the late Dr. Bakhtiar and Mr Kordestani published a newspaper in exile.

Nowadays everywhere you look there are people who claim to be carrying the same flag of the organization but which one ofthem is truly the continuation of the real national Front?

Koroush Zaim:

We are still trying to reorganize the party and there are many educated and decent individuals who would support this effort so we could put forward a strong opposition to the regime.
