A Window to the Fatherland

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

We continue the program with talking to our special guest and our colleague, the historian Nasser Shahinpar.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

In your opinion, which other past historical period is reminiscent of the Iran of today?

Nasser Shahinpar:

The greatest error of the current Iranian leadership is that they have no understanding of the real world just the same way as the Qajar of the eighteenth century did when they ruled Iran.

They did not know what was behind the comments of the British ambassador to Iran, every time he made them, and were always thrown off guard when the British intentions became known to them.

It is the same scenario again today. The rulers of Iran are making exactly the same errors and despite their access to all the modern means of communications and educated personnel at their disposal, they are sleepwalking towards making disastrous errors of judgment about the world outside their realm of imaginations.

For example, this Mr. Zarif, he is an intelligent man and knows his job, but he is intertwined with a regime that has a different agenda. A regime that has stopped the Iranians from thinking rationally and forcing them back to live in medieval times.

Reza Shah was also an authoritarian leader but he was a progressive man and did a lot of good things for the country.

But this regime builds missiles and writes on them “Death to Israel” and burns the US flag and when its military bases are bombed and destroyed by Israel and billons of dollars of its spending on malign activities are evaporated in a day, they just shut up and keep silent in fear of things getting even worse for their survival.

The reasons for the demise of the Safavid dynasty’s are exactly being repeated for this regime in Iran today.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

So, what do you think should be done?

Nasser Shahinpar:

I believe the forty years of the Islamic republic’s rule has done the equivalent of four hundred of years of damage to our country and it will take many generations before the garbage mentality that they have injected in the minds of the nation will phase out, not to mention the colossal damage tat they have inflicted on Iran’s natural and human resources and our country’s economic infrastructures.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Iran’s oil revenue under the Ahmadinejad alone was more than $800 billion, something that could have turned the country into the most prosperous nation in the Middle East.

But instead, it was paid to the Hezbollah and the Houthis to cause wars and destruction in the region.

Nasser Shahinpar:

If the ignorant Islamic republic leaders were human enough, they would have built hospitals in Yemen instead.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Do you think the fact that John Bolton has said the US is not after a regime change in Iran could be interpreted that if the regime stops repressing our people and accepts a national reconciliation it can save our country from its current fall into the abyss?

Nasser Shahinpar:

All those regimes that have lost the support of their people have been destined to the dustbin of history and this regime in Iran is not an exception.
