A Window to the Fatherland

Tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland starts with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

We continue the program with a discussion with two distinguished guests, Houshang Kurdestani, a member of the Council of National Front of Iran and Dr. Reza Hosseinbor, a commentator on issues related to the Baluchestan province of Iran. They would share their expert views with us about the latest news of Iranian opposition groups inside and outside the country.

In the first part of the program we will discuss why a call for a rally to commemorate the legacy of Dr. Mossadeq by his followers has been cancelled by the organizers, only days before it was due to be held.
The organizers say that they have been under pressure by the regime to cancel the rally and they have had to do so.

However they have committed a gross mistake by doing so as if they had agreed to allow it to go ahead then they could haveclaimed that they believe in democracy even though their security forces were already stationed in Baharestan square, where the rally was supposed to have taken place.

We will continue our debate on how in recent years so many versions of Iran’s National Front have sprung inside and outside the country and by doing so have contributed to the divisions among the opposition groups, even though they all claim to be the followers of the late Dr. Mohammad Mossadeq.

In this respect Dr. Hosseinbor will provide us with a history of the Front and how it has morphed from a popular and nationalist opposition group into its current near demise as it has not been able to modernize itself, just like the Labour Party in the UK.

According to Houshang Kurdestani, the main objective of all Iranian people at this moment of time must be to unite for the removal of the present religious dictatorship from power and replace it with a democratic system of governance. Any attempts to delay this by making comparisons between the present regime with the pre-revolution one will be a diversion in the struggle of the Iranian people for freedom and to end the calamities that the Islamic republic regime has brought onto our nation.

Dr. Hosseinbor believes the central committee of Iran’s National Front must have run from outside Iran to use the freedom of association granted to it to attract new members and sympathizers form other opposition groups.

As for the situation in Iran, both our guests strongly believe that the country is on the edge of complete economic and social collapse as the fabric of the society has disintegrated in every sense and the nation urgently needs the emergence of an alternative system of governance to offer it hope for freedom and prosperity beyond the current regime.
