Andy Warhol was an American artist, writer and director and producer who was a leading figure in the art movement known as pop art in the 1950s.

He was the most prominent pop artist and was known for his Avantgarde artistic expressions.

Pop art was regarded as a movement that presented a challenge to traditions of fine art in the mid twentieth century.

While Andy Warhol’s works were the subject criticism by many of his contemporary artists, he was a popular figure and one of the most controversial artists of his time.

The Andy Warhol Museum in his birthplace city of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, is the largest museum in the United States dedicated to a single artist.
