A Window to the Fatherland

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Tonight we will speak to our special guest Mr Alireza Sasanian who used to work for Iran’s national broadcasting organization (IRIB) as one of their financial directors and we begin by asking him how did he join the national TV station?

Mr Alireza Sasanian:

You know it very well that unless you have a contact within the IRIB there is no way of getting employed by them. As such, I was recommended by a friend andjoined the national Radio and TV organization as a finance director and later became responsible for the insurance matters of the IRIB and recovered fourbillion tomans of the previous premiums that the organization had overpaid to the insurance company.

Many staff of the IRIB were employed as freelancers and worked there for many years, but when they reached the age of retirement they had no social security or pension.

More than 50,000 people currently work for the IRIB and it has 20 offices outside and 36 centers inside Iran that produce its daily programs.

Mr Sarfaraz who was fired as the head of the IRIB actually became the victim of a vendetta as he had sacked more than 700 top managers when he assumed his job.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

When we were at the national radio and television before the revolution the general manager Mr Ghotbi only had five deputies for political, financial, admin and technical affairs of the organization but nowadays each deputy has ten deputies for himself which is ripping off the wealth of the nation.

Mr Alireza Sasanian:

Mr Sarfaraz is an educated man and when he tried to get rid of the Larijani’s gang in the IRIB he became the victim of a purge himself.

If you look very closely at the history of the management of the IRIB, you will notice that after the chairmanship of Mohammad Hashemi until now it has been run by the Revolutionary Guard and interest groupings are behind its productions and policies.

Some of the staff of the IRIB do not even work at all and just receive salaries for their connections to the establishment.
