A Window to the Fatherland

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

We continue the program with talking to our special guest of every Thursday, Dr. Mohsen Sazegara, for his views about news of Iran and the Middle East.

Mohsen Sazegara:

In US the issue of the next presidential election is warming up. Within the Republican Party there will be no challenge to president Trump as he will automatically be their candidate for the next president.

However, in the Democratic Party more than 200 hopefuls have put their names forward and their first test will be in the State of Iowa next month. The latest polls show that Joe Biden is the leading candidate, followed by Bernie Sanders.

It is quite likely that eventually Joe Biden would stand against Trump but his age is an issue as he is approaching 80 now!

Trump’s popularity has grown as the US economy is doing well and he benefits from already being in power and promises to continue his programs in the second term.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

Khamenei, Rouhani and Zarif have all said that the US economy is in chaos. I wonder if they ever read the news or are juts ignorant and biased?

Mohsen Sazegara:

Once upon a time the socialists used to say the same nonsense. They were predicting the immediate collapse of capitalism but kept talking about it for more than 70 years and nothing happened.

They could not understand the fact that in democratic societies problems can be solved with reasoning and the public are allowed to participate in debates about the best way their society should be managed.

Under dictatorships like the Iranian regime we are told that the world is on the verge of collapse and the only way to save it is to follow their system of governance!
