A Window to the Fatherland

We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:

This year’s Nowruz has been marked with the tragedy of the flood across Iran’s main provinces and many families are now mourning the loss of their relatives killed by the flood.

Hundreds of thousands of more people will soon face the destruction of their homes and farming lands which will leave them in despair for many years to come as they can expect no practical help from a regime whose officials have been touring in foreign countries during the new year’s holiday while the county has been witnessing a tragedy.

In a way this tragedy has opened the eyes of our people more as to how even ifIran is completely destroyed the regime would not give a damn as it could not care less about it.

We now ask our special guest of tonight Dr. Kazem Kardavani about his views on the crisis of the flood that has engulfed our country.

Dr. Kazem Kardavani:

You are right to say that we have now learnt a few bitter lessons form this flood tragedy.

Firstly our people have shown that how without the help of the regime they have done their best to manage the destructive consequences of this flood as clearly demonstrated by the people in Shiraz.

Many people have cut short of their Nowruz holidays to rush to the aid of the victims of the flood. It is a disgrace that the judiciary has threatened our people to stay away from offering voluntary assistance to the victims or face arrest.

The second important lesson is that how in today’s world only experts and the educated elite can offer practical solutions to the many problems of our nation.

From its inception forty years ago this regime has condemned our educated elite by accusing them of promoting western ideas and through its so-called culturalrevolution has only spread ignorance and backwardness based on religious superstition.

The third lesson is that Iran is ruled by an incompetent regime that has no interest or program for the prosperity, progress and peace of our nation and its destructive actions at home and abroad have reduced our country into a land of disasters.
