We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
In tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland we will be discussing the aftermath of the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran with our special guest Dr. Mohsen Sazegara, as the Iranian economy takes a turn for the worse in anticipation of massive US sanctions.
There are reports that the spat between the various factions of the regime as to which one of them is responsible for the failure of the regime’s foreign policy has led to open quarrels between Shamkhani and Velayati, while Hossein Shariatmadari of Kayhan daily has called for the tearing up of the deal and MPs have been burning the US flag in the Majles.
But in reality, the Islamic republic regime is setting fire to our country by refusing to accept that it is to be blamed for the current situation by pursuing its insane ideological aims in the region.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
What can one say about a regime of ignorance and insanity? Khamenei is surely the most timid dictators of all times as he refuses to accept his own personal responsibility for what has happened to the nuclear deal.
He is the one who has ordered the banning of Telegram messaging app but he is hiding behind other officials, as he knows how unpopular this mad decision is.
It is the same story with the nuclear deal as for 18 continuous years it has been Khamenei who has had the final say on Iran’s nuclear program. During the Ahmadinejad’s era his insane policies led to the imposition of all the devastating sanctions that the US is now bent to revive.
Then when they all reached a dead end in their foolish policy, they brought the Rouhani factor to the fore to sort the mess out for them, but still kept pushing with their destabilizing and destructive policies in the region.
I am not a Trump fan but even if Clinton were in power she would have done the same today as the first paragraph of the nuclear agreement stipulates that after the deal Iran will cooperate with the international community in achieving peace for the region.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
You mentioned about a situation where Clinton was in power. The opposition to Trump has become a fashion and even some of our own friends have become blind to seeing the truth.
The US, as an imperial power, has the capability to help people under dictatorships to seek a better future for themselves and achieve democracy as we can clearly see in Iraq.
The problem is that corrupt and despotic regimes like the Islamic republic in Iran try to interfere in this process and instead install puppet and corrupt people like Nouri Al Maleki in power by splashing millions of dollars of cash among their stooges and agents.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
I tremble with fear when I see the list of the damages that will be inflicted on our country after the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
They include a ban on the sale and purchase of US dollar by the Iranian government;
A ban on the sale and purchase of Iranian fold;
A ban on the sale and purchase of Iranian precious metals;
A ban on the sale and purchase of Iran’s bonds on international markets;
A ban on the import of US made foods into Iran;
A sanction of Iran’s car manufacturing companies;
A ban on the ale of passenger airplanes to Iran;
A sanction on Iran’s air and sea passenger and transport firm;
A ban on the import of any Iranian petrochemicals;
And the list is endless with the aim of stifling the country’s economy soon.
And yet, the commanders of the Revolutionary Guard have “congratulated” each other for all these catastrophic consequences that awaits Iran and the Iranians!
